Hunters kill 153 elk during Michigan’s 2025 season that saw record applicants

Brent Henige shot a 559-pound elk on state-managed public land in Montmorency County during the second segment of Michigan’s 2025 elk season.

As outdoor technology advances, Minnesota DNR deals with fair chase questions

At the Minnesota DNR’s 2026 Roundtable last month, one of the final sessions of the day was entitled “Future of Fair Chase and Natural Resource Sustainability.”

A hunt for the big bull moose of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula

Jonathan LeBel, of Ogdensburg, in St. Lawrence County, N.Y., is a passionate big game hunter.

That dream became a reality last fall (2025) when he tagged a 73 1⁄8-inch-wide racked animal – antlers with massive paddles – in the most unlikely of places … the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia. The challenges he faced along his journey – from travel to firearms to communication – were compounded even further on a personal level. LeBel has multiple sclerosis.
