Brent Henige shot a 559-pound elk on state-managed public land in Montmorency County during the second segment of Michigan’s 2025 elk season.
But that was not the whole story. Henige, of New Lothrop, braved a wind chill of -10 on Dec. 13 to locate and harvest his elk within a couple hours.
