New York’s New Clifton Park Bass Pro store opens amidst fanfare

Clifton Park, N.Y. — The long-anticipated opening of a new Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World retail store came to fruition with the store’s grand opening held July 30.

The new 70,000 square-foot store, which employs approximately 140 people, is located just south of Exit 9 near Interstate 87, and less than 20 miles north of Albany, N.Y. An estimated 3,000 people attended the Evening for Conservation event that coincided with the grand opening.

Outdoor celebrities in attendance included bass fishing veterans Roland Martin and Kevin VanDam along with current competitors Chris Johnston and Charlie Evans.

At approximately 6 p.m. that evening general manager Bryon LaLone, a New York native, cut the ribbon, officially opening the doors to the public.

“I grew up in a small town in the Adirondacks, named Stony Creek,” LaLone said of his Warren County roots. “The outdoors are a part of our life, so to have the opportunity to stand here with you today is a humbling experience.”

New York State Senator Jim Tedisco (R-44) praised the retailer for supporting not only the 140 jobs in his district, but what he said was 3,800 jobs collectively in New York.

“That’s an indication of what we have here. I guess you could define it as the Taj Mahal – and I say that in the best sense – of sporting, fishing, hunting,” the Senator said. “And it just gives you an indication of how well we’re doing in this region, in growing businesses, growing jobs, growing population when across the state we see people walking out. So this is great.”

The new location has primarily an Adirondack theme with one large mural in the fishing section depicting a scene from Lake George and another, in the camping section, of an Adirondack campsite, including a lean-to.

The new store is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
