The walleye fishery is self-sustaining and bass and perch populations are strong.

Its vast basins, bays, canals, and coves are full of game fish including largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleyes, northern pike, a full slate of panfish as well as longnose gar, carp, white suckers, bullheads, and

Starvation Lake has a deep history of fishery management.

It’s connected and managed as one water body since water, boats, and fish can freely move between the lakes.

In the most recent general netting survey of the fishery in Long Lake, biologists collected 1,246 fish including 14 species.

The primary purpose of the lift is to capture sturgeon.

There are no walleyes or trout in this relatively small lake, but it’s chock-full of tasty bluegills, perch, sunfish, and crappies.

The channel edge is usually a good starting point.
