Little Shag features a stocked rainbow trout fishery while neighboring Big Shag supports decent panfish, bass, and pike fisheries.

So now anglers can take a meal home with them.

Results of a 2019 survey of the fishery in Long Lake seem to indicate that the program is working.

In addition to its great walleye fishery, Peach Lake also boasts pretty good perch, bluegill, and largemouth bass fishing opportunities.

If you’re looking for a quiet and secluded fishing trip and a chance to catch a mixed bag of walleye, panfish, pike, and bass, it’s hard to beat Schoolcraft County’s North and South Gemini lakes.

It’s hands down one of the best destinations for both numbers and quality of smallmouth bass in the country.

The lake boasts strong natural populations of bluegills, largemouth, and smallmouth bass, and a robust, stocked population of walleyes.

As good as the muskie fishing is, that’s not the only fish anglers target in Thornapple. The lake’s turbid waters also hold excellent numbers of black crappies and good numbers of walleye, perch, and bass.

And despite environment and social changes, a 10-pounder is not that rare anymore.
