Perfect scores shot amid some tough weather conditions at Minnesota trap championship

It would be unusual during the course of nine days of a trap shoot in early June to not run into a few weather-related hiccups in Minnesota.
Student-athletes certainly experienced some of that as heavy rains hit the Alexandria area in the west-central portion of the state late last week. That caused some delays in competition, but in the end, the Alexandria Shooting Park hosted almost 8,100 student athletes from 335 schools for the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League’s 2025 Trap Shooting Championship.

Steve Carney: Lagging water temperatures dominate much of Minnesota

This 89-year-old resident of Dilworth, Minn., was accompanied by his nephew, Dean, who assisted in the trip. Merlyn Albertson is legally blind but we made it work!

Forest Service proposing Boundary Waters fee increase

The Superior National Forest is proposing increases to recreation fees for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to increase education and maintenance, and to enhance visitor experience.
The Superior National Forest is sharing the BWCAW Recreation Fee proposal for public review and comments through Sept. 2. The proposal suggests increasing the BWCAW fees, which haven’t been raised since 2008, from $8 to $20 per youth per trip, and from $16 to $40 per adult/senior per trip.
