New York students return from clay target league national championships in Michigan

Athletes and teams representing 456 high schools from across the nation participated at the 2024 USA High School Clay Target League National Championship held in mid-July.
The event was held at the Michigan Trapshooting Association in Mason, Mich., and featured 3,000 athletes participating in team and individual qualifying events, culminating in a final Championship Round that awarded the top 10 male and female athletes and top five teams in the country.

The Janice & Paul Keesler Scholarship Fund is accepting applications from qualified students who wish to receive scholarship assistance. Pro bass tournaments descend on New York waters again this summer

As has been the case in recent years, midsummer tends to see the biggest bass fishing tournament trails find their way to New York waters, particularly Lake Champlain and the St. Lawrence River.
Both Major League Fishing and B.A.S.S. are holding, or have already held, notable tournaments on these two fisheries, which have become perennial favorites during this time of year for bass angling pros.

New York DEC debuts self-printed license era

Sporting licenses officially go on sale Monday, Aug. 5, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. That, after what might be called a “soft” launch of yet another new system, or portion of the licensing system, which began on Aug. 1, when Deer Management Permits (antlerless permits) could also be applied for.
“A few days between the official opening and the statewide public announcement provides some time to correct any system issues if needed during this new transition,” a DEC spokesperson told New York Outdoor News.
