Beside trout, Hamilton Lake also has some nice chain pickerel, which will cooperate in winter.
After three spring stockings of rainbow trout and goldens and another rainbow stocking last October, the lake is brimming with trout.
Nockamixon Lake is big, covering 1,450 acres. It has an abundant forage base, made up largely of alewives and gizzard shad. And it’s got plenty of fish-holding habitat, both near shore and off shore.
There are finally fish – and not just crappies – worth catching in the lake again.
Fishing can be good, with some occasional trophies for the taking.
It has a well-deserved reputation as a fine place to catch tiger muskies. And things may only get better.
Both are thriving in terms of total numbers and trophy specimens. And both have loyal followings.
The park section offers a good mix of both stocked and native fish, but as one might imagine, the fishing pressure it receives can be high.
