In particular, fishermen who like to target panfish in spring will find this lake a really nice alternative.

The Rager Mountain Division of the Gallitzin State Forest is a great trout-fishing destination that offers five streams where special days can be experienced.

Its largemouth bass population in particular stands out.

Ice fishing is quite popular on this body of water, with trout being the most sought-after species. Close behind though should be the impoundment’s abundant population of panfish, which includes yellow perch, black crappies, bluegills

Angler catch reports tell of muskies common enough that anglers specifically pursue them in Fords Lake.

Surveys of the lake, together with angler catch reports, suggest that Brady’s Run Lake offers better fishing now than it has in decades.

And Fish & Boat Commission lists Lake Pleasant as one of its “best fishing waters” for stocked trout in the state.

Trout are one reason why.

Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission stocks it with trout – a mix of brooks, browns and rainbows in past years – with ice fishermen in mind.
