Toll of EHD in Ohio’s southeast seen in harvest numbers during early bowhunting

In spite of above average temperatures across the state and a killer viral-induced disease in several southeast counties, archery deer hunters in Ohio in the early going still performed decently when compared to the 2024-2025 season.
For the archery season’s first week ending Sept. 30, hunters bagged 5,333 deer. That is 1,046 more than were shot during the 2024-2025 season’s first week when 4,287 animals were arrowed.
