Wisconsin Wardens at Work: 51 not too old to begin game warden career

David Bennett says 18 months ago when he began training at age 51, some fellow wardens his age were talking retirement.

David Bennett, who is a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) field warden in Kohler-Andrae State Park and part of Sheboygan County, came into this job at a later stage in life. He is approaching an age where some wardens are thinking retirement – but he is just beginning his career.
Ask Bennett about his job choice at his age and he’ll likely suggest that his age, background, and experience all emphasize education over citation when dealing with a violation, if at all possible.
