Bassmaster Classic contenders share their strategies

On media day at the Classic, I posed the same questions to 11 anglers on my interview list. Professional anglers have consistently identified decision making as the primary difference between them and anglers who do not earn a living with a rod and reel. My two-part question started like this: On Day 1, what is Plan A and what will you throw first? Then what will determine when you go to Plan B?

Bryan Thrift dominates at Major League Fishing’s Redcrest Championship through tough weather

Forty Major League Fishing (MLF) anglers qualified for the fourth annual Redcrest Championship held March 8 through March 12 at North Carolina’s Lake Norman.

Growing popularity of Archery in the Schools events takes commitment from many

“We started with seven kids and one bow,” remembered Jim Moyer. “Our target was a cardboard box on a hillside behind the school.”
Moyer, the coach for the New Lexington Archery team in Ohio, smiled as he recalled the humble beginnings of the school’s archery program.
On Feb. 18, New Lexington Middle School hosted a fun shoot that saw 280 young archers from across 12 school districts, one church, and a group of homeschooled students do their best from 10 and 15 meters.

With 280 archers representing 12 school districts headed to the event that would take place at New Lexington Elementary School, Moyer was already busy addressing the details on a Friday morning with the Fun Shoot only 24 hours away.

Commentary: Stories from the National Fishing Expo in Ohio where relationships are renewed and made

Thousands of anglers converged at the recent three-day National Fishing Expo held in Columbus from Feb. 10-12, and they were looking for deals on everything from baits to boats.
