The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking public input as the revision process for the state’s Turkey Management Plan begins.

Nebraska mountain lion spotted around Duluth, Minn.

A radio-collared mountain lion caused a stir in northeastern Duluth on Wednesday, Dec. 3 as citizens reported sightings to local law enforcement and area schools secured students inside.
After it was spotted in northeastern Duluth along Lake Superior, Congdon Park Elementary School and Ordean-East Middle School secured buildings and prevented students from leaving, while classes carried on as normal.

Late-season whitetails require strategy; here’s how to fill your muzzleloader tag

A typical deer hunt with a muzzleloader here in the Upper Midwest would involve slipping into the edge of a picked cornfield for an evening sit, on the promise that winter’s demands will talk the local ungulates into feeding early.

Ohio’s gun hunters see an uptick in opening day kills

In spite of the epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) outbreak that plundered the deer herd in several southeast Ohio counties this summer, hunters still found enough whitetails elsewhere to give a glow to the opening day firearms deer-hunting season harvest.

Tom Venesky: Game, Fish merger for Pennsylvania agencies best done sooner than later

But Pennsylvania isn’t like other states. The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission has been around since 1866, and the Game Commission originated in 1895.

Ohio’s Outdoor Trailblazers: Jim Schott: ‘Be out there and experience it all’

It’s interesting when a kid born and raised in southeast Ohio makes his mark on the marshes and wetlands of northwest Ohio.
But, that’s the story for Jim Schott, the longtime manager of Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area. Ohio Outdoor News recently caught up with Schott on a drive home from a deer hunt in southern Ohio for the latest installment in our Outdoor Trailblazers feature.
