Outdoor Observations: Life of a Michigan conservation officer is not necessarily easy

The Michigan DNR’s Law Enforcement Division, established in 1887, is the oldest law enforcement agency in the state.
DNR’s LED employs about 250 commissioned conservation officers, who patrol all of Michigan’s 83 counties. Their duties include enforcing laws and regulations pertaining to fish and wildlife, state parks, trails, state forests, recreational activities such as off-road vehicle riding, snowmobiling, and boating, and more.
