It’s been a little more challenging lately, but still plenty of nice walleyes have been caught. Many are pulling crankbaits and having quite a bit of success.

When the wind has cooperated, so have the walleyes. Many anglers have switched over to crawler presentations and soon many will also be pulling plugs.

What we want legislators and the governor to understand and focus on is that about 200,000 people in South Dakota hunt and fish. We need to put more attention on those people.

Plenty of walleyes are being caught and the nice crappie bite has continued. Plenty of people are starting to switch over to more typical summertime presentations, such as pulling plugs and bottom-bouncing.

The walleye bite continues to improve as the water warms, especially in the northeast portion of the state, and the crappie bite has taken off in many areas as the lilacs bloom.

The crappie are starting to bite of late.

South Dakota wildlife officials are raising the state’s elk population goal in the Black Hills, while taking the opposite approach east of the Missouri River.
The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission moved

The walleye bite has been getting better as the weather improves.

Plenty of people hit the water and had decent success despite the cooler water temperatures. Jigs and minnows or plastics still remain the most common presentation.
