Ice fishing season winding down, although there are still a few opportunities out there, mostly in the Upper Peninsula, where the perch and walleye bite remains strong.

Many waters in the southern portion of the lower peninsula are transitioning to open water due to warmer temperatures. Ice fishing is still being conducted in the northern portions of the state at this time.

Accesses deteriorating, so be careful if you’re looking to get out on what’s left of the ice. Jumbo perch are still biting – here’s where.

Ice fishing has ended in southern Michigan, but continues in the northern Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula.

There are no walleyes or trout in this relatively small lake, but it’s chock-full of tasty bluegills, perch, sunfish, and crappies.

Definitely feels a lot like spring out there, and boats are heading west to the river. So where is the bite occurring and what presentation is working?

The perch bite is still going strong on Lake Bemidji. They’re starting to move into shallow waters but still in that deep mud, too. Here’s what to use.
