In the most recent status of the fishery survey of Hubbard, biologists caught very good numbers of walleyes, smallmouth bass, rock bass, and yellow perch, and decent numbers of northern pike.
The best ice in the state is on lakes in the Upper Peninsula, where it ranges from 7 to 16 inches or more. Perch and walleyes have been caught in U.P. lakes.
