Finally some warm weather and consistent water temps. Amazing what one night of stable water temps does to the bite. Exciting time of year and some very fun patterns.
The biggest news has been some decent smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and northern pike action.
Water temps are rising and the walleye spawn is almost complete. Here’s how the walleye and pike bite has been this last week.
Buffalo Harbor is a main launching point for boaters heading to nearby smallmouth bass and early season walleye hot spots.
While the lake has a 14-inch size limit and a five-fish daily bag limit, local fishermen release most of their fish in an effort to keep size and numbers above average for the area.
Although the lake is just 575 acres in size, anglers throughout central Minnesota are aware of its ability to produce walleyes and crappies year after year.
In surveys of the fishery, the biggest walleye went about 28 inches and the biggest muskie went about 48 inches.
