We’ve got ice across most all of the state, although some open water on larger fisheries. There’s some good fishing to be had – here’s where – but be careful and be safe.
The river fishing action continues right up to ice-over, and some southern Michigan rivers remain ice-free all year.
Southern Michigan finally has some ice, but don’t get too excited – yet. Things looking better the further north you go, as you might expect. Here’s where they’re ice fishing and what they’re catching.
Beatons doesn’t produce a ton of trophy fish, but there are a lot of keepers in the lake.
The ice fishing season is off to a good start in parts of the Upper Peninsula and some of the shallower lakes in the northern Lower Peninsula.
Fishing in a slow spot right now with sketchy ice conditions. But if you still have your boat out, there’s some good open-water fishing to be had.
Anglers were catching walleye while trolling Bandits on Lake Erie.
Northern pike often are overlooked by anglers searching for bass or panfish. That’s a big mistake if you’re plying the waters of Hutchins Lake in Allegan County.
A few boaters are still getting out on lakes Erie and St. Clair and on Saginaw Bay and catching good numbers of walleyes and perch.
