Michigan Fishing Report – February 16, 2022
Fishing has been hit and miss across the state.

Fishing has been hit and miss across the state.

And DNR Master Angler records from Heron Lake including a 15.25-inch crappie that was caught in 2018 and a 10.25-inch bluegill caught in 2016.

Perch have produced the hot bite in many areas of the state.

Wherever you live there’s bound to be a Michigan late winter perch hot spot near you.

Look for low and clear flows to prevail on the Oak for now and most hook ups at the dam or for a few careful drifters.

Conditions can be challenging, but fishing reports have been good up and down the state. And don’t forget fishing trout through the ice on some lakes, too.

Anglers were providing varying reports of success out of Lake Erie.

Walleyes, smallmouth bass, muskies, and northern pike are dominant game fish species here.

Solid ice and good fishing greet anglers across the state.
