Egg-collection goal, so as to meet 2018 walleye stocking requests, is approximately 88 million eggs, and the NGPC is scheduled to stock nearly 31.6 million walleyes into public waters across the state.

A new group of waters has been added where anglers may retain additional brook trout. And a new registration system is in place for anglers who harvest a lake sturgeon or muskellunge.

It will be the first update of the system management plan in 27 years.

After revenues exceeded expectations, state fish and wildlife officials also are considering dropping a fee increase for Oregon fishing and hunting licenses that takes effect in 2021.

The DEC estimates that anglers caught 96,000 and kept nearly 54,000 Chinook salmon in 2017.

So far, so good this season, but learning to adapt to conditions can make or break your fishing trip.

But with the changes also come some fee hikes, depending on the type of license category a hunter or angler purchases. Opponents criticized those increases, which the department estimated would bring in an extra $10
