Hayward Area

LAKE_MILLE LACS East – Shallow-running crankbaits are producing walleyes at night in three to five feet on the east-end rock piles. The day bite is slow and look to the bays for a few good-sized

Western New York

Lake Erie and tributaries: Perch are still hitting off Sturgeon Point in 50 to 60 feet of water. Boaters weren’t doing as well off Cattaraugus Creek, which was in good condition for trout at last

La Crosse Area

Woodcock have been filtering into the area. Bottomlands along the Kickapoo River are prime areas to hunt for these birds. Most wood ducks have migrated from the area. Typically, by the third week in October

Central

Powerton: Crappies biting hard on minnows. Smallmouths fair on crank-baits and tubes. Some smallmouths being taken with little jigs. A few channel catfish but not very big. Asian carp are showing up in increased numbers

Manitowoc/Two Rivers Area

Pier anglers around Two Rivers had slow fishing last week. Anglers fishing on the East Twin River experienced a good week of fishing. Angler pressure was concentrated around the Mishicot dam and the Village Park

Boulder Junction Area

Water temperatures continue their seasonal drop. The smaller lakes have turned over; the larger lakes are still in various stages of turnover. Muskie and walleye fishing is expected to pick up as turnover nears completion.

Northeast Region

The 2008 fall trout stockings in northeast Ohio began in early October. The trout stocking program targets small inland waters, including state and community park lakes, as well as other easy-access lakes throughout the state.
