Finger Lakes/Central NY

Canadice/Hemlock lakes: Anglers are starting to pick up some nice trout on night crawlers or bass minnows while fishing from shore. On a side note, Naples Creek has some good numbers of brown trout in

Manitowoc/Two Rivers Area

In Manitowoc, anglers had a fair week of fishing with most of the fishing activity concentrated around the marina and the north pier stub. Most anglers were casting spinners and spoons or using spawn sacs.

Lake Winnebago Area

Crappie fishing is excellent on the Wolf River near New London and Shiocton. Anglers were having success using minnows and pinky jigs. Fox River Bait &_Tackle, (920) 233-7409. Trip’s, (920) 795-4163.

Rivers

Kankakee River: In the Momence Area, smallmouth bass good on crankbaits, Mepps #2, spinners, live minnows and chug Bugs. In the Aroma Park section, rock bass and crappies good on minnows, smaller spinners and worms.

Lake Michigan/Metro Area Lakes

In Sheboygan, pier anglers have been catching a few browns and steelhead on spawn and spoons. In the Sheboygan River, some cohos, chinooks, and browns have been caught on flies near the Kohler dam and

North

Chain: Bluegills good around weed areas on small ice jigs tipped with waxies or spikes. Muskies are consistent on bucktails or jerkbaits around main lake points. Crappies are good in channel areas on small jigs

South

Crab Orchard Lake: Anglers are picking up a few crappies in 6-10 feet on minnows and jigs. Catfish action has slowed somewhat. Bluegill action has slowed also, although some fish are still being caught along

Twin Cities Metro

NORTHEAST METRO A slowly presented jig and minnow continues to trigger walleyes on the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers. Deer registrations are down and general reports from hunters have involved limited deer sightings. By most
