Notes off a soiled cuff: No longer can Pennsylvania agencies pretend two-commission system isn’t wasteful

The long-awaited report from Wildlife Management Institute on consolidating agency functions to boost efficiency finally was unveiled Aug. 31 (see this story).
WMI’s study confirmed what we knew: Pennsylvania is the only state in the country that manages wildlife and fisheries with two separate agencies – and our system is extremely inefficient and very expensive. It will be interesting to see how the legislators – and most importantly, the governor – react to WMI’s findings.
