There have been quite a few legislative proposals regarding hunting recently in Pennsylvania, and a lot of them don’t make sense.
A bill in the House would create a hunting and trapping education program in schools, even though there’s already legislation in place allowing the state Game Commission to hold hunter-ed courses in school facilities. And in the state Senate, a legislator announced his intention to introduce a bill to create a $30, three-day deer hunting license for nonresidents.

During a hearing in which a bill was introduced to bring accountability to how both Pennsylvania wildlife agencies choose executive directors, an attempt by one legislator to shed light on what he alleges is “employee abuse” by the state’s Game Commission was halted.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is taking to the air to fight invasive plant species.
The agency began using drones to apply herbicide targeting non-native, invasive plant species in 2025, focusing on wetland areas. Among the species treated were purple loosestrife, common reed, narrowleaf cattail and European frogbit. So far, the herbicide applications via drone have been conducted on state game lands in Crawford, Lawrence Mercer, and Tioga counties, but there are plans to expand the range.

Especially when it comes to stocked trout. I enjoy fishing for stocked fish in Pennsylvania waters. I take my kids out of school on the days a few of our favorite local streams will be stocked, and we have a blast. For us, in-season trout stockings are an event.
