$8.7 million invested in H2Ohio islands project

Bass Pro Tour’s Dustin Connell talks about the gear that brought home the victory on Toledo Bend

Throughout his brief professional fishing career, 31 year-old Alabama pro Dustin Connell has shown that he can do many things on the water.
He qualified for a Bassmaster Classic and won two B.A.S.S. events before his 27th birthday, then moved to the Bass Pro Tour, where he turned up the heat even more. He won the Redcrest championship in 2021, and three events in 2022. His most recent victory came at this year’s BPT season-opening tournament on Toledo Bend.

New York Mixed Bag: Day-old chick program returns for raising pheasants

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Day-Old Pheasant Chick program is set to return in 2024. After a last year’s outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza disease outbreak devastated New York’s pheasant stock at the Richard E. Reynolds Game Farm located in Ithaca, DEC said it was proud to announce its continuation in 2024.

Michigan DNR cancels 2024 Black Lake sturgeon season due to poor ice conditions

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is announcing the cancellation of the 2024 Black Lake sturgeon season, which was scheduled to start Saturday, Feb. 3.
A harvest limit is set for each Black Lake sturgeon season. With the current marginal ice conditions and depletion of ice on Black Lake, there is concern of excessive harvest with the inability to effectively track harvests with limited DNR personnel on the ice.
