SCOTUS rules on pair of Second Amendment cases

The U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Hawaii law requiring people to get permission to carry guns into stores and hotels on June 25, in its latest opinion backing Second Amendment rights.
The high court’s 6-3 decision means people can carry guns onto privately owned property like shopping malls and gas stations, unless the owners specifically say guns are banned at their establishments.

New York scholastic archers travel south for NASP championships

The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) concluded one of its most successful tournament seasons at the 2026 NASP Championship held June 18-20 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Championship marked the culmination of a season that brought together student archers, coaches, families, volunteers, and conservation partners from across North America. The event featured competition in both the traditional Bullseye format and the rapidly growing NASP3D discipline.

New York DEC releases first report from bass tournaments

In 2025, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation issued 802 permits on 98 bodies of water across New York to organizations holding bass fishing tournaments.
Under the new system, tournaments with 10 or more competitors must go through the new permit process. DEC recently published the results of the first year of the New York State Black Bass Fishing Tournament Permit and Reporting System, including much of the data the agency gathered during the system’s first year.
