As New York’s spring gobbler season rolls along, you can bet your best call that a frustrated hunter will say that the season dates need to be changed.
“Birds done gobblin’ now by the first week.” “Can’t buy a gobble.”
New York’s traditional opening day for gobblers is May 1. That date was chosen for the month-long season back when it first started in 1968 in just a couple counties.
