Bill that would allow baiting for deer on private property advances in Pennsylvania

A bill to allow the use of baiting on private property to control deer numbers will soon be heading to the House floor for a vote.
State Rep. Thomas Mehaffie III, R-Dauphin, introduced House Bill 2440, which would give the Pennsylvania Game Commission the authority to allow baiting on private property to attract deer in an attempt to address overpopulation concerns in areas.

Action Alert: With three days left in Minnesota legislative session, tell your legislator to get Legacy funding done NOW!

We’ve got a late-breaking 2026 Minnesota Legislative Session emergency that demands the attention and action of every sportsman and sportswoman in the state.
At stake is $191 million in dedicated sales taxes that the Legislature appropriates for habitat via the Outdoor Heritage Fund. These are not general tax dollars, these are the Legacy dollars that citizens permanently dedicated back in 2008.

If the frogs croak two nights in a row, it’s time for smelt along Minnesota’s North Shore

The annual smelt run has a dedicated following along the North Shore in Minnesota, with fishermen putting out nets to gather the small fish. In recent years, more people have made their way to the shore for tradition, business, and recreation.
Native to the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, smelt entered the Great Lakes after being accidentally introduced via an inland Michigan lake in 1912 where they had been stocked as forage. Since then, the population has spread across the Great Lakes.

The 2024 rule adopted under former President Joe Biden was meant to refocus the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management, which oversees about 10% of land in the U.S.
