Illinois CPO Jordan Roundcount is honored for cooperation in Calhoun County

Illinois Conservation Police Officer Jordan Roundcount was honored by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office in late 2025 for his work in that county.
Roundcount received a letter of recognition and the Sheriff’s Service Award for his personal initiative and interdepartmental cooperation, Sheriff Bill Heffington, who retired at the end of 2025, said.

Missouri offers $15k reward for help in elk poaching case

The Missouri Department of Conservation is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for poaching an adult bull elk at Peck Ranch Conservation Area in southern Missouri.
The elk was discovered the morning of Nov. 26 after visitors driving through the area reported the animal to conservation officials. According to MDC, the bull elk was lying in an open field and had been shot in the left shoulder.

Illinois man dies on feral hog hunt in Georgia

A managed hunt for feral hogs ended tragically at Cumberland Island National Seashore in Georgia with the death of a 52-year-old Illinois man.
According to the National Park Service, Jason Wallin, 52, of Coal Valley, was accidentally shot on Jan. 8 on the last day of a three-day hunt for feral hogs, an invasive species.
