Outdoor Observations: Coyote legislation introduced in Michigan despite unsettled lawsuit

Despite an unsettled lawsuit on the legality of shortening Michigan’s coyote season by three months, legislation has been introduced in Lansing addressing the coyote hunting and trapping season.
House Bill 4554, introduced by Rep. Parker Fairbairn (R-Harbor Springs), and Senate Bill 366, introduced by Sen Michele Hoitenga (R-Manton), both would amend the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to allow individuals to hunt coyotes year-round if they possess a fur harvesters license.
