Battle with round gobies intensifies in New York after eDNA is detected in Champlain Canal

One of the biggest potential concerns involving an aquatic invasive species in New York could be literally moving closer to becoming a reality.
Both the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the State Canal Corporation have gone into what they term “rapid response mode” following the positive eDNA detection of round gobies in the Hudson River/Champlain Canal. The location of the detection was at Lock C-2 in Halfmoon, north of Albany.

Wisconsin DNR sets deer season framework and harvest goals for 2024

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) presented the deer harvest quotas and framework for the 2024 Wisconsin deer hunting season to the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board on June 26, 2024.
The statewide antlerless quota for the 2024 season is 272,837 deer, with 245,245 total bonus antlerless harvest authorizations available for purchase across the state. These authorizations are in addition to the free antlerless harvest authorizations issued in farmland zones, which are not reflected in this total.
