A mere month before this year’s spring gobbler season began I had no intentions of mixing things up in terms of turkey hunting shotguns. A Remington 870 Express Mag 12-gauge with a thumbhole stock has been my go-to gobbler-getter for over a decade, with an Ithaca Mag 10 (10-gauge) as a back-up.
Then, in late March, I was fortunate to win a Winchester .22 at a sportsman’s banquet. Not needing another rimfire in my gun safe, and having just prepped Jerrod Vila’s appeal for the .410 (The Little Gun that Could) for the April 7 issue of this publication, I had an epiphany of adding a .410 turkey gun to my collection.
