Tracking in Chicago River offers interesting look at fish movement

One bluegill in the Chicago River regularly makes an 8.7-mile trek in a period of about 18 hours.
“He’s done it five times,” said Austin Happel, research biologist at the John G. Shedd Aquarium, who is leading a multiagency study that is tracking species in the Illinois river. “It’s really interesting to see such a little fish make such a huge journey many times, back and forth, while other bluegills in various parts of the waterway are basically staying put.”
