Coyote vs. bobcat encounter caught on trail camera in Pennsylvania

Sometimes the things that play out in nature are truly remarkable. Every now and then, someone is lucky enough to capture these head-shaking encounters on camera.  
Adam Spittler, of Pine Grove, Pa., has been running trail cameras since 1999, when one had to order them directly from manufacturers. After 25 years of operating dozens of these devices, he captured one of the most unique series of images in his lifetime earlier this month.

Commentary: What does the future hold for Minnesota’s Wildlife Management Area system?

Four-plus years ago, a network of wildlife advocates organized to review and express concerns regarding forest habitat/timber-management policies and procedures within state wildlife management areas.
It increasingly became evident that this issue was more complex, growing into inter-related concerns with WMA planning, funding (e.g., federal aid), staffing, etc., that collectively provide direction for Minnesota’s WMA system.

Dead of winter, mid-January. Deep-freeze, zero-degrees, frozen land. No surprise. 
Birds almost frantically are mobbing the feeders in the cold, their numbers now including bullying flocks of starlings and grackles, and hordes of pesky, aggressive English (house) sparrows along with the usual more colorful winter-bird suspects. And then, on the trail-cam at 2 a.m., a little unexpected drama: One Wile E. Coyote rousts a white-tailed deer off one of my mineral licks.
