April 1 remains important date for New York anglers

As April 1 approaches, the annual New York State Freshwater Fishing Regulations Guide will soon be available at license issuing agents and will also be in PDF form on DEC’s website. (Photo courtesy of NYSDEC)

April 1 doesn’t even have to be circled on the calendar if you’re a New York angler. It’s still that big of a day. Even though new fishing regulations put in place in recent years have changed the significance of what was always the traditional trout season opener, April 1 is still relevant to many.
