Over the years, the town of Clifton Park in Saratoga County, N.Y. has whittled down the opportunities to hunt the productive areas of Vischer Ferry Nature & Historic Preserve that were once among the more popular duck hunting areas in the Capital Region.
Waterfowl hunters now get one week each October to use the preserve, after a series of town of Clifton Park and New York State rule changes over the years, beginning in the 1970s. Hunters say DEC, not the town, controls the hunting season.
