Steve Carney: Minnesota mourning dove opening week success!

The 2026 hunting seasons are here in Minnesota and I opened the dove season with solid success. I had permission on a 35-acre wheat field along the South Dakota border and had some good shooting the first two mornings.
It was a weird hunt as most of the birds that approached us were in small groups of one and two with no large flocks. Here are some tips that helped me make the hunt a success.
