Iowa Fishing Report – April 2, 2021
The water temps and fishing bite are warming up.

In the most recent general netting survey of the fishery in Long Lake, biologists collected 1,246 fish including 14 species.

The spring steelhead bite in northeast Ohio rivers is the thing fishermen are talking about these days.

How ice-out and shore fishing are coming along – it won’t be long before the ice is gone and it will be game on for open-water fishing.

Mother Nature is still trying to figure out the season, but the walleyes are biting on the Missouri River. And more on snap-jigging.

You have to work these fish just right. Here’s how.

It’s time to start looking for panfish in those traditional, spring locations. And don’t forget about border water, pre-spawn walleye fishing on lakes and rivers as well.

When armed with this knowledge ahead of time, it gives you a better chance to be successful. It’s all about doing your homework in advance.

A 2019 DNR survey produced good numbers of eating-size walleyes that averaged 15 inches in length. That seems to be the story of Wolf: a strong resident population of keepers.
