In South Dakota, where more than 80% of land is privately owned, access can be a limiting factor for hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts if enough acres are not enrolled in a public access program.

Walleyes are still being caught, but the ever-changing weather has been a challenge.

The walleye and perch bite has been impacted by the changing weather, but some lakes like Bitter continue to produce walleyes.

Trolling cranks has been the ticket, but don’t overlook the shallows.

Despite the heat and having to dodge storms, quite a few walleyes have been caught lately. The best presentations have been pulling crankbaits or using crawlers on Slow Death or Search baits.

Plenty of trophy walleyes continue to be caught in the more typical summer ways – snap-jigging and pulling crankbaits.
