Steelhead fishing in the northeast Ohio Lake Erie tributaries of the Rocky and Chagrin rivers and Conneaut Creek is gangbusters right now.

Walleyes in early stages of river spawn runs. On inland waters, crappies are the name of the game.

Bluegills and pumpkinseeds are also excellent target species here.

The ice season was a short one on Lake Erie, and anglers are already back to launching boats and trolling for walleyes.

It’s a pretty picture, one which should produce happy anglers and great catches of walleyes, and later, white bass, if the weather cooperates.

An electrofishing survey conducted in the spring of 2019 showed that Burr Oak still supports one of the best bass fisheries in the district, with good densities and a good percentage of bass over 15

About the only game going right now is fishing below spillways at a number of Ohio lakes.

It looks like a short-lived ice fishing season on Lake Erie and on inland waters as temps climbed this week.
