This is the last full week of lake trout season on northern Lake Michigan and northern Lake Huron. The season closes Sept. 30. As we move into fall, watch for minnows to show up around

Walleyes continue to be found shallow and deep throughout the state. A jig and minnow is producing fish on the weedlines, wind-driven points, and shallow structure in 8 to 15 feet on many lakes.

From a fishery perspective, anglers catch a little bit of a lot of species with a spotlight on walleyes and northern pike. Panfish, muskies and smallmouth bass also attract a good amount of angling attention.

This thin ribbon of water in Clermont County is only 161 acres in size, but it is loaded with catfish.

While action has slowed for most fish species, the bite is on for channel catfish.

Many fishermen love the lake, if for different reasons than in the past.
