For the April 1 trout opener, the Battenkill, Mettawee and Kayderosseras rivers are likely worth a look.
Trout waters set to be stocked ahead of the April 1 opener are: Dutchess County: Tenmile River, Webatuck Creek, Swamp River, Roeliff Jansen Kill, Crum Elbow Creek, Sawkill, Fishkill Creek, Sprout Creek, Wappingers Creek. Putnam
Anglers were getting out on some of the rivers that are open to fishing now, and action will really pick up when trout season – and the rest of the waters – open April 1.
St. Lawrence River: Not hearing much now as we transition between ice and open water. Black Lake: No report.
