Over the last several years, the Game Commission has taken drastic steps to compel hunters to shoot more antlerless deer.

State College, Pa. — Despite decades of decline, a genetic analysis of ruffed grouse reveals that Pennsylvania’s state bird harbors more genetic diversity and connectivity than expected.

The sample was stratified to ensure that a statistically valid sample size was obtained within each of Pennsylvania’s 22 Wildlife Management Units.
