A quick bite update on how the walleye fishing is going as we move into the heart of fall fishing.

A front moved in and the wind started blowing, but before that … wow. Regardless, walleyes still being caught, as this video shows.

It’s getting to be the most wonderful time of the year on Devils Lake – fall. Here’s what to expect.

Trolling with spinners and plugs seem to be working the best – expect the jigging bite to increase as the fish start to prepare for fall and winter.

As we near the end of August, the fishing on Devils Lake still remains strong. Trolling with bottoms bouncers or pulling cranks seem to be the best ticket when looking to boat walleyes.

The walleye bite on Devils Lake is hot – lots of fish in that 15- to 18-inch range. Pulling bottom bouncers with spinners will help put fish in the boat.

Bottom bouncers and spinners seem to be the most effective way of boating walleyes right now as we move into the mid- to late-summer walleye bite.

Stable weather has created a very good walleye bite throughout Devils Lake the last few weeks. Water temps are hovering in the low 70s and fish have transitioned a little deeper.

The walleye bite is in full swing, and trolling with bottom-bouncers is proving to be an effective way to cover water, find fish and have a great outing.
