While walleyes were once the dominant sport fish in Stone Lake, results of the last survey indicate that title has likely shifted to smallmouth bass, followed by walleyes.


Sauk’s walleyes are benefiting from what appears to be the perfect scenario.

The most recent DNR survey turned up 408 fish representing nine different species.

Mogadore has long been known for its redear sunfish and bluegill populations and that reputation continues today.

Of the walleyes handled by a DNR team, 93% were 15 inches or longer. Another 37% were 20 inches or longer. The biggest walleye came in at about 26 inches.
