And below the dam at Berlin is an excellent tailwater fishery for smallmouth, walleyes, and catfish.

Raccoon Creek offers plenty of fishing opportunity, in two ways. There’s lake fishing and creek fishing.

While both bluegills and crappies species receive heavy fishing pressure, the lake seems to have the right ingredients to keep kicking out quality fish.

And eading into the spring 2022 fishing season, muskie anglers especially have reason to be eager, given DNR’s findings during its surveys.

A lot of trout will be planted, some almost assuredly prior to the season kickoff and many more into April and May.

The 2019 adult walleye population estimate was 551, or approximately 0.6 adult walleyes per acre, which is a significant decline from 2013 when adult walleye estimate was 2.1 per acre.

Black crappie was the most abundant species collected in a recent survey, which also showed strong numbers of bluegills.
