Michigan Mixed Bag: TRCP welcomes new board member from Michigan

The Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership recently announced the onboarding of four new directors to its leadership team including Joe Anderson of Michigan. The other board members include, Bill Henagan (South Carolina), Rita Hite (Virginia), and Andrew Martin (North Carolina). They join the 27-member board that oversees TRCP.

Ohio Mixed Bag: Angler, 41, dies on Cowan Lake

Authorities said a 41-year-old fisherman from Wilmington in southwest Ohio likely drowned in Cowan Lake on July 24.
The News Journal, of Wilmington, confirmed the fisherman’s identity as Matthew Teboe. Teboe’s mother told the newspaper that preliminary autopsy results suggests accidental drowning as the cause of death.

Special archery deer hunts coming up in Ohio

The Ohio DNR (ODNR) Division of Natural Areas and Preserves is holding special archery deer hunts at nine locations bordering the Little Miami, Stillwater, and Big and Little Darby state scenic rivers. These sites offer excellent hunting conditions while reducing the impact of deer browsing on native plant communities, according to the ODNR.

Sportsmen’s Alliance sues CDC on dog-import rule

On Wednesday, Aug. 7, the Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation filed suit in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to rescind a new rule restricting the importation of dogs into the United States.
