One of the most respected and productive Illinois DNR directors in the agency’s history will be remembered by a scholarship established in his name.
The Illinois Conservation Foundation, another piece of Brent Manning’s legacy, has the led the charge of the effort. Manning, who died in January 2024, was the longest-tenured DNR director, serving from 1991 until 2003, and helped guide conservation policy and expand outdoor programs statewide.
