Former National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre will have to pay $4.3 million back to the organization after the Appellate Division, First Judicial Department of the New York State Supreme Court rejected his attempt to overturn the judgment against him.
Despite coming up short in her attempt to disband the organization, New York Attorney General Letitia James is claiming victory in her case against the NRA and LaPierre, who also cannot serve as an officer or director of the NRA for 10 years.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has added five counties to a deer feeding and attractant ban to reduce the risk of chronic wasting disease spread, following detections of CWD in wild deer in new areas of the state last year.
“Where people place food or attractants out for deer, higher numbers of deer tend to congregate in one place,” said Paul Burr, acting big game program leader.

In May, the New York State Department of Public Service announced that the Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission (ORES) had issued a final siting permit to Boralex LLC for the Fort Edward Solar Project in the Town of Fort Edward, Washington County.
The project had come under scrutiny due to it’s location near the Washington County Grasslands Wildlife Management Area.

During the first two weekends of June, some 2,158 student athletes from 172 teams took part in the 2026 New York State High School Clay Target League (NYSHSCTL) state tournaments.
The largest was the 2026 NYSHSCTL Trap Shooting State Tournament, held at NYS ATA in Bridgeport on June 5-7, which featured 2,091 athletes from 160 high school teams.
